At Voodoo, I led the UI/UX vision for Match Hunters, a new match-3 title built from the ground up with a strong focus on clarity, engagement, and scalable production.
Our ambition was to push the genre beyond its traditional boundaries by reimagining match-3 as a casual dungeon crawler. The experience blends a highly polished core puzzle loop with elements of exploration, treasure looting, and light questing. Encounters with quirky enemies unfold directly on the board, introducing moments of tension, surprise, and strategic variation within the familiar match-3 gameplay.
This hybrid approach required crafting an interface that could seamlessly support both the readability of a classic match-3 and the richness of a progression-driven adventure, without overwhelming the player.
One of my key responsibilities was building the UI/UX pipeline and establishing efficient ways of working for a brand-new team. I created a structured design process focused on collaboration, consistency, and rapid iteration, enabling the team to move quickly while maintaining a high-quality player experience.
This included leading collaborative ideation sessions with game designers, creating end-to-end Figma flows and wireframes, driving iterative design cycles based on team and player feedback, and working closely with developers to ensure smooth Unity implementation. Through continuous playtesting and UX validation, I helped shape intuitive, scalable, and player-centric experiences while laying the foundation for a sustainable UI/UX workflow across the project.
IMPACT
This approach significantly improved communication between disciplines, accelerated production efficiency, reduced iteration bottlenecks, and allowed the team to validate ideas earlier, resulting in more polished features and a stronger overall player experience.
